WHO press release for World Hearing Day 2018, presented at the United Nations on 1st March, sharing the latest estimates and projections says: ”Some 900 million people, nearly one in 10 people in the world, could suffer from disabling hearing loss by 2050, unless appropriate action is initiated. Governments must act now to prevent this rise and ensure people with hearing loss can access the services and technologies they need."

To celebrate the event, we guested on radio shows to promote education and awareness campaign on how to protect our hearing. In line with the event, we went to Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City to conduct a community eye and hEARing health outreach. We checked the ears and the eyes of everyone who came and dispensed medicines for those we have found to have ear infections through the help of Congressman Joseph Paduano of
Abang Lingkod Party List. We also gave away sunglasses to jeepney and tricycle drivers to protect their eyes from the heat of the sun, dust and wind that could damage their sight. In return, they put up our stickers to help us campaign for hearing protection.
