EYE hEAR Foundation, Inc. (formerly Cataract Foundation Philippines, Inc.) started in 1992 with a MISSION: Eliminate avoidable blindness and a VISION that no one should go needlessly blind. Having been exposed to the poorest communities in the country, we found out that the concerns regarding hearing impairment is 3 times bigger than vision impairment. Thus, in 2003 our hEARing Center was born to respond to the Prevention of Deafness and Hearing Impairment.

screening in Sipaway Island

After Julio Ledesma National High School screening, we proceeded to Sipaway Island, a 20minute boat ride from San Carlos City.

August 13, 2008 we screened the 195 students of Sipaway National High School for eye and ear problems.

It was drizzling when we came but we were warmly welcomed by the school staff. Students stayed back after flag ceremony to listen for the orientation. This island, even only 2ominute away from San Carlos, has no electricity supply so we made use of the megaphone and even the school rely on it to get the attention of students for important announcements.
